Description

What type of wine it is

Labianca by Lunae is a still white wine with the Liguria di Levante Indicazione Geografica Tipica (IGT) designation, the result of a balanced blend of Vermentino and Malvasia, aged in stainless steel. On the palate, it is dry, fresh and delicate, supported by a lively acidity and a distinct savoury and mineral character. The bouquet expresses hints of ripe white fruit and tropical notes, enriched by nuances of sage, peppermint and white pepper. The saline nuances of sea breeze complete the tasting, ensuring aromatic clarity and a pleasant persistence.

Where it comes from

This wine originates from the Liguria di Levante area, specifically in the Luni Plain, in the territory of Ortonovo. The vineyards grow between the Ligurian Sea and the Apuan Alps, where the light, sandy soils enhance the salinity and the easy-drinking nature of the wine. The maritime microclimate plays a fundamental role in preserving the aromatic fragrance of the grapes. The production area is deeply linked to the millenary history of ancient Luni, the City of the Moon, which represents the heart of Lunae's agricultural project.

How it is produced

The harvest is carried out manually at the beginning of September. Vinification involves temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel tanks to preserve the cleanliness and precision of the varietal profile. Subsequently, the wine undergoes ageing on the fine lees for four or five months. This prolonged contact gives the palate a soft and enveloping texture, balancing savouriness and freshness, closing with a persistent finish that recalls notes of ripe apricot.

History and interesting facts

Labianca by Lunae celebrates the passion of Paolo Bosoni and the ancient Luni, the ‘City of the Moon’.

The lands of Ortonovo and Castelnuovo Magra, little villages on the border between Tuscany and Liguria, lie on the hills facing the Mediterranean Sea and protected by the marble peaks of the Apuam Alps. Here rises Luni, the ancient Roman city so shiny and rich of marbles that the Barbarians, descending from the Alps, took for Rome by mistake.

Cantine Lunae deepen their roots in the millenary hystory of this land and people, whose great vine-growing and wine-making tradition have inherited. Etruscans, or perhaps Ligures and then Romans, were the first to grow vineyards in the surroundings of the beautiful Luni, the "Moon City".

These lands have given birth to our vineyards, to our passion, to our wine!
