Description

What kind of wine it is

Vermentino Colli di Luni Etichetta Grigia Lvnae by Lunae is a Ligurian white wine with a bright straw-yellow colour. Made from Vermentino grapes, it offers an intense and persistent aromatic profile, with notes of hawthorn, grapefruit, Reinette apple and white peach, softened by a subtle hint of acacia honey. On the palate, the structure is soft and rounded, well balanced by a vibrant freshness and pronounced savouriness. The sip finishes with a long fruity persistence. This controlled designation of origin wine, fermented and matured in steel, is perfect for accompanying fish dishes, white meats and vegetables.

Where it comes from

The grapes are grown in the renowned vineyards of the Colli di Luni, along the foothills between Ortonovo, Castelnuovo Magra and Sarzana. The vines, trained using the Guyot method, sink their roots into alluvial and pebbly soils, particularly rich in stones. This geological composition imparts a clear mineral imprint and a distinct flavour profile to the wine. The microclimate plays a decisive role: the significant temperature variation, created by the meeting of warm daytime sea breezes and cool night-time Apennine winds, encourages a slow and optimal development of aromas, ensuring rich and healthy grapes.

How it is produced

The process begins in mid-September with a manual harvest, aimed at selecting bunches that have reached perfect ripeness. In the winery, gentle pressing prepares the must for a slow temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel tanks, an essential practice to preserve the primary aromas and respect the integrity of the raw material. Afterwards, the wine undergoes careful ageing on fine lees until the early months of the year. This stage, carried out entirely in steel to maintain the natural varietal liveliness, gives the glass a soft and balanced texture.

History and Curiosities

Deeply connected to ancient Luni, the “City of the Moon”, Etichetta Grigia is the first Vermentino created by Paolo Bosoni. Since 1966, the Lunae Bosoni winery has made this wine the quintessential symbol of the Colli di Luni DOC, combining the vocation of the Ligurian territory with meticulous ageing on fine lees in steel. This respectful and refined approach delivers a glass of vibrant elegance, widely celebrated by international critics and awarded 90 points by Wine Spectator.

The lands of Ortonovo and Castelnuovo Magra, little villages on the border between Tuscany and Liguria, lie on the hills facing the Mediterranean Sea and protected by the marble peaks of the Apuam Alps. Here rises Luni, the ancient Roman city so shiny and rich of marbles that the Barbarians, descending from the Alps, took for Rome by mistake.

Cantine Lunae deepen their roots in the millenary hystory of this land and people, whose great vine-growing and wine-making tradition have inherited. Etruscans, or perhaps Ligures and then Romans, were the first to grow vineyards in the surroundings of the beautiful Luni, the "Moon City".

These lands have given birth to our vineyards, to our passion, to our wine!
