Description
What kind of wine is it
Franciacorta Dosaggio Zero Riserva from Lo Sparviere is a rigorous Traditional Method wine made from Chardonnay. In the glass, it displays an intense straw-yellow hue with golden highlights and a very fine perlage. The bouquet releases fragrant notes of sweet toasting, tropical fruit, yellow peach and light honey. On the palate, it reveals a complex structure, supported by pronounced mineral savouriness and a very persistent finish.
Where does it come from
This Franciacorta originates in Lombardy, among the vineyards of Monticelli Brusati. The vines sink their roots into a unique terroir, where limestone soils alternate with red clays and silt, giving the wine a marked savoury character. Yields in the vineyard are kept low and harvesting takes place during the third decade of August, allowing the Chardonnay to clearly express its territorial identity.
How is it produced
The vinification process begins with gentle pressing of the bunches to extract only the best fraction of the free-run must. Fermentation takes place in steel tanks and wooden barrels, with partial malolactic fermentation. The creation of the final blend includes reserve wines, preparing it for a long ageing on the lees of seventy-two months. The absence of added sugars defines an extremely dry and incisive profile.
History and Curiosities
The result of the dedication of a winery active since 1974, the Franciacorta Riserva Dosaggio Zero 2015 from Lo Sparviere is produced exclusively in the finest vintages. This elegant Metodo Classico enhances the Chardonnay from Monticelli Brusati, grown on limestone soils. The use of reserve wines in the cuvée and the masterful 72-month maturation on the lees give the wine exceptional structure. Made without added sugars, it releases a profound mineral persistence that has earned it top accolades from Gambero Rosso and Vinous.
