Description
What kind of wine is it
Collio Bianco Solarco is an organic still white wine produced by Livon. It is made from a blend of Friulano and Ribolla Gialla and displays a golden yellow colour. The aromatic profile opens with notes of bread crust, vanilla and dried tomato leaf. On the palate, it stands out for its finesse, with hints of apple, acacia and tropical fruit. The progression is bold and enveloping, with a long and persistent finish. This structure makes it ideal to pair with seafood soups, smoked fish starters and white meats.
Where does it come from
This wine is produced in Collio, in Friuli-Venezia Giulia. The vineyards benefit from a southern exposure, situated at an altitude between sixty and two hundred and seventy metres, which encourages balanced ripening of the grapes. The soils, characterised by a composition of marl and clay, are crucial in giving the wine a compact taste texture and impeccable definition, expressing the excellence of this region in creating full-bodied white wines.
How is it produced
After manual harvesting, the grapes undergo cold maceration for eight hours. Fermentation takes place partly in Allier barrels and partly in steel tanks at a controlled temperature. The wine matures for six months in the same containers, without racking. The production cycle ends with blending and careful bottle ageing, designed to ensure perfect organoleptic stability and full expression of aromas at the time of consumption.
History and Curiosities
Founded in 1964, the renowned Livon winery signs the Solarco, a pure expression of the Collio Goriziano tradition. This elegant organic DOC is born from hand-picked grapes and skilfully crafted by oenologist Giovanni Genio. To enhance its refinement, the must undergoes cold maceration and is partially fermented in fine Allier barriques, resting for six months before completing its maturation in the bottle. The excellence of the 2023 vintage is confirmed by the prestigious 94 points it received.
