Description
What kind of wine it is
Les Heritiers du Comte Lafon Mâcon-Prissé is a still white wine that precisely expresses the elegance of the Mâconnais. Made exclusively from Chardonnay, it appears in the glass with a straw yellow colour and good consistency. The bouquet is fragrant and fruity, characterised by citrus and floral notes, hints of white fruit and delicate spices. On the palate, it reveals an elegant and slender profile, supported by a vibrant mineral tension. Its pronounced freshness makes it ideal for pairing with lean fish dishes and poultry, and it is also well balanced with a selection of cheeses.
Where it comes from
This wine originates in the Mâconnais, an area of southern Burgundy renowned for producing fresh and dynamic wines. The project to enhance this terroir began in 1999 at the initiative of Les Heritiers du Comte Lafon. Today, the vineyards form a twenty-one hectare estate, where the grapes faithfully reflect the characteristics of the soil. The connection with the area of origin is expressed through a deeply savoury character, which ensures a smooth and immediate drinkability, while maintaining great character.
How it is produced
Production aims to preserve the purity of the fruit. Vinification takes place partly in stainless steel and partly in large barrels. The use of steel preserves the aromatic freshness, while time in barrels gives a balanced and harmonious structure, without compromising the wine's tension. This approach results in a white wine with a clean finish and excellent ageing potential. It is recommended to serve it at a temperature between 10 and 12 °C to appreciate every nuance.
History and Curiosities
In 1999, Dominique Lafon launched an ambitious project in the Mâconnais, acquiring land to the south of the Côte de Beaune. This elegant pure Chardonnay, a sublime expression of southern Burgundy, is the result of expert vinification carried out in stainless steel and large barrels. Awarded 91 points by Vinous, the wine boasts an extraordinary ageing potential of up to ten years. The 2023 vintage encapsulates in the glass all the lively freshness and profound minerality typical of the prestigious AOC Mâcon-Prissé.
