Description
What kind of wine it is
Champagne Legrand Latour Lutetien Brut Nature is an organic wine created from a blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. In the glass, it displays a straw yellow colour, enlivened by a fine perlage. On the nose, it offers intense fruity aromas intertwined with clear notes of candied citrus. The palate is extremely dry, typical of zero dosage, delivering a savoury and vibrant progression of flavour. It expresses its best qualities when served at a temperature between 6 and 8°C and can mature in the cellar for up to ten years.
Where it comes from
Produced in France, this wine originates from the Legrand Latour vineyards located in Champagne. The vines sink their roots into a sandy limestone soil rich in fossilised shells, a geological legacy of the Lutetian period. This unique soil composition is enhanced by a careful geo-oenological approach aimed at preserving the original character of the terroir. The interaction with the environment imparts a profound mineral imprint and a saline tension consistent with the wine's organic nature.
How it is produced
Production faithfully follows the Traditional Method through natural bottle fermentation. The base wine matures for twelve months on the lees in barrels, a technical step that defines its structure while maintaining aromatic freshness. The total absence of added sugars ensures a clear and rigorous organoleptic profile. Thanks to its distinctly dry finish, this cuvée pairs perfectly with seafood starters, shellfish, sushi, and crisp fried fish.
History and Curiosities
The family-run Legrand Latour winery masterfully blends tradition and evolution. This captivating organic cuvée celebrates the Lutetian period, a geological era that bestows the wine with a rare soul. The vineyards take root in calcareous-sandy soils rich in ancient marine fossils; this tropical heritage inspires a meticulous geo-oenological approach, capable of enhancing the imprint of the land. Ageing in barrels and the purity of zero dosage guarantee a vibrant elegance, offering the palate an authentic mineral expression.

Having the honour of being the representative of Champagne Legrand-Latour today, it is my duty to preserve the values we hold dear. My father's passion for researching fossils in our terroir led me, through a geo-oenological approach, to express the influence of this Champagne subsoil, rich in fossils, and to highlight the mineral expression of our champagnes.
