Description
What type of wine it is
Rosso Piceno Lanciani is an organic red wine with a Controlled Designation of Origin from the Marche region, created from a blend of Montepulciano and Sangiovese grapes with a full and balanced profile, thanks also to fermentation in ash barrels and ageing in concrete. To the eye, it presents an intense ruby-red colour with brilliant highlights, while the nose releases a delicate bouquet dominated by clear aromas of strawberry and cherry. On the palate, it expresses a structured and harmonious body, capable of delivering a long and persistent finish. After decanting for an hour, it proves to be the ideal pairing for pasta dishes with meat sauces, roasted or grilled meats, and mature cheeses.
Where it comes from
Rosso Piceno originates from the territory of Montefiore dell’Aso, in the Marche. The vineyards are located at an altitude of 350 metres above sea level, with roots reaching into clay soils. This specific soil composition contributes decisively to supporting the depth and structure of the wine. The vines are trained using the Guyot system, with a planting density designed to ensure a constant vegetative-productive balance. In this particular microclimatic context, the Marche terroir enhances the authentic expression and regular ripening of the bunches.
How it is produced
Production begins with a manual harvest in the second half of October, allowing for a careful selection of bunches that have reached perfect maturity. The winemaking process is distinguished by fermentation within truncated conical ash barrels, a choice aimed at defining the extraction and correct management of the structural component. At the end of this phase, the wine rests for six months of ageing in vitrified concrete. This inert material promotes the stability of the wine and great precision of flavour, ensuring a pleasant smoothness.
