Description

What kind of wine it is

Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Vigneto di Campolungo by Lamole di Lamole is an organic red wine that embodies the authentic essence of Sangiovese. Visually, it displays an intense ruby hue enriched with garnet reflections. The bouquet is deep and complex, combining notes of very ripe fruit with hints of iris, spices, and sweet tobacco. On the palate, it reveals great balance, with a solid yet velvety structure, harmonised by a pleasant freshness and well-integrated tannins. The finish is warm and persistent, enhanced by elegant balsamic and mentholated accents. It is ideal paired with grilled meats, game, and mature cheeses, and expresses its full potential after about an hour of decanting.

Where it comes from

This wine originates in the heart of the Vigneto di Campolungo, located in Greve in Chianti, where the rows of vines rest on historic terraces between 420 and 580 metres above sea level. The terrain's orography ensures constant ventilation and a marked temperature range, both fundamental for the slow and complete ripening of the grapes. The soil is characterised by a composition of galestro schist and sandstone, a geological substrate that imparts a distinctive savouriness and superior finesse to the palate, outlining a profile deeply connected to the territory.

How it is produced

Production begins in the first half of October with a rigorous selection of the grape bunches. The must ferments in truncated conical vats, where maceration is managed to achieve a calibrated extraction of colour and phenolic matter. With the arrival of spring, the wine begins its ageing process in new barrels for over thirty months. This long maturation sculpts an extraordinary structural complexity, ensuring remarkable ageing potential that allows the wine to evolve elegantly for over a decade.

History and Curiosities

The historic Vineyard of Campolungo, nestled among picturesque terraces reaching up to 580 metres above sea level, gives rise to the exceptional Chianti Classico DOCG Gran Selezione. This elegant organic wine, made from pure Sangiovese grapes harvested in October, fully expresses the authentic aromatic richness of the Tuscan region. The expert maturation of over thirty months in fine barrels bestows a rounded and balanced sip, enhanced by fresh and persistent balsamic notes. A multi-award-winning oenological masterpiece, perfect for celebrating the most important occasions.

The Lamole di Lamole estate is located in the commune of Greve in Chianti, Florence, one of the villages of the oldest and most famous Italian appellation, Chianti Classico. Its vineyards are located at one of the highest points in the denomination, between 350 and 655 metres above sea level, a condition that, due to the temperature range, lighting and ventilation, allows the grapes to ripen optimally and at the same time gives particular elegance, richness and persistence to the aromatic and gustatory potential of its wines.
