Description
What kind of wine it is
The Champagne Ultradition Extra Brut by Laherte Freres is a pure expression of its terroir. Produced according to the Traditional Method, this sparkling wine is born from a meticulous blend of Pinot Meunier, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. In the glass, it reveals a golden yellow colour with straw reflections, crossed by a fine and persistent perlage. The mature and complex bouquet offers clear aromas of lime, pineapple, melon and yellow peach, finishing with elegant iodised nuances. The palate is intense and juicy, enriched by distinct umami notes. This precise flavour identity pairs perfectly with starters, fish dishes, shellfish and cheeses.
Where it comes from
The roots of this wine lie in Chavot-Courcourt, France. The vineyards of Laherte Freres follow the principles of biodynamic agriculture through micro-parcels distributed in historic areas between Épernay, the Côte des Blancs and the Vallée de la Marne. Such diversity enhances the natural exposures and microclimatic variations. The soils, dominated by limestone, clay and marl, ensure the vegetative balance of the vines and give the Champagne a vibrant mineral character. The result is meticulous viticulture that faithfully translates the geological vocations of the original environment directly into the glass.
How it is produced
The process respects each parcel through separate vinifications. The musts undergo a slow spontaneous fermentation triggered by indigenous yeasts, followed by gentle rackings before forming the final blend. The subsequent prise de mousse strictly follows the rules of the Traditional Method, defining the tactile finesse of the drink through bottle refermentation. The careful sugar dosage enhances the dry and savoury finish, giving great harmony. This artisanal precision also ensures remarkable longevity, offering a solid ageing potential for those who wish to wait for its evolution.
History and Curiosities
Founded in 1889, Maison Laherte Frères produces the exceptional Champagne Ultradition Extra Brut by cultivating its own vineyards using biodynamic agriculture within 72 micro-parcels located between Épernay, the Côte des Blancs and the Vallée de la Marne. To enhance the identity of each individual cru, the base wines ferment spontaneously and slowly thanks to the exclusive use of indigenous yeasts. After skilful blending and the traditional secondary fermentation in the bottle, a harmonious and extraordinarily elegant Champagne is born, awarded 92 points by Robert Parker.

The Laherte brothers' vineyards extend over three typical Champagne locations: Épernay, Côte des Blancs, and Vallée de la Marne; a total of 10 historic crus. The cultivation philosophy involves absolute respect for traditions and a preference for natural methods in place of chemical products: use of plant compounds to increase the defensive capacity of the vines, non-invasive pruning that maintains developed foliage in height, organisation of work and treatments according to the most auspicious days. The production process involves separate vinifications for each Cru to make the most of micro-climatic variations, followed by a work of selection and combination of the wines produced to create a harmonious, elegant and fruity Champagne. Fermentation is slow and spontaneous; one or two racking takes place before bottling.
The Champagnes of the Laherte brothers are brilliantly clean, crisp and genuine wines, resulting from cultivation and production processes based on unconventional and sustainable systems. They are elegant and refined wines that evoke the flavour of the grapes and soils from which they originated. All the products in the range are of high quality and capable of impressing even the most discerning palates, where the bubbles explode, giving that wide variety of aromas and flavours that only the best Champagnes can provide.
