Description
What type of wine it is
La Valentina's Spelt is an organic Trebbiano d’Abruzzo that enhances the essence of the Trebbiano grape variety. With a brilliant golden-yellow colour, it reveals aromas of yellow peach, citron and broom, combined with notes of calamint and calcareous mineral sensations. On the palate, it is persuasive, enlivened by a pleasant freshness and an elegant savouriness, with a finish that recalls aromatic herbs. Its enveloping structure pairs perfectly with raw seafood starters, pasta dishes with clams and delicate steamed fish.
Where it comes from
The grapes grow on the hills of Spoltore, from organic vineyards located in the province of Pescara. The vines, which are approximately thirty years old, are grown using the Abruzzese pergola system on clayey soil of medium texture, at an altitude of between one hundred and fifty and two hundred and fifty metres. The favourable south-west exposure ensures balanced ripening of the bunches. This pedoclimatic context is reflected in the glass, giving an ample gustatory texture, supported by a vibrant and distinctive territorial imprint.
How it is produced
After the harvest in early September, the must undergoes temperature-controlled fermentation in steel tanks. The wine matures for four months on the fine lees in steel, then rests for a whole year in concrete tanks to acquire greater complexity. The process concludes fifteen months after the harvest without filtration, fining or forced stabilisation. This rigorous process keeps the wine's authenticity intact, providing a savoury and persistent finish.
History and Interesting Facts
Born from the dedication of the Di Properzio family in Spoltore, this organic Trebbiano d’Abruzzo DOC by La Valentina has expressed the soul of the region since 2017. The grapes, grown on three hectares cultivated using the Abruzzo pergola system, receive artisanal care aimed at preserving their vibrant richness. After ageing on the lees for four months in steel, the wine rests in concrete vats for the following year, acquiring a remarkable depth. It is finally bottled without any filtration, ensuring a glass of elegant and savoury purity.

Our wines are the natural products of our own terroir – our unique combination of terrain and soil – which we try to convey to every bottle and which is the secret of our original taste. The local micro-climate and the land itself, to which our vines are bound and so well-adapted, give us wines of unique and distinctive character. We are convinced that a fine wine is born from the sum of countless tiny details, so our objective must not only be to consistently produce fine wines, but also to make sure that they are and will always remain authentic.
