Description

What kind of wine it is

Acquagiusta Vermentino is a still white wine made from Vermentino grapes, a true expression of the Tuscan Maremma. Belonging to the Costa Toscana denomination, it appears in the glass with a straw yellow hue illuminated by subtle greenish reflections. The aromatic bouquet offers immediate aromas with lively floral and fruity notes, enriched by a delicate vegetal hint that defines its character. On the palate, it is fragrant and graceful, supported by a pronounced acidity that imparts a clear freshness, finishing with a rounded and pleasantly prolonged persistence, perfect for enhancing the flavour of fish dishes and cheeses.

Where it comes from

The grapes come from the soils of Tenuta La Badiola, located in the heart of the Maremma near Castiglione della Pescaia. The rows extend across the central part of an alluvial cone, immersed in an agricultural ecosystem rich in biodiversity, among hills, olive groves and the typical Mediterranean scrub. The vineyards are positioned to benefit from optimal exposure to soil, sun and wind. Careful agronomic management involves spur-pruned cordon training with a density of five thousand vines and a limited yield, fundamental choices to ensure marked freshness and absolute expressive precision.

How it is produced

The production cycle begins with a rigorous manual harvest, during which the bunches are placed in small crates to perfectly preserve their integrity. In the winery, a purely conservative technique is followed: whole grape pressing at very low pressures prevents the extraction of undesirable elements, ensuring the utmost finesse of the aromas. After decanting through static cold stabilisation, the must matures for four months in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature. The resting period ends in February, completing a meticulous process that fully enhances the wine’s clean, precise and elegant profile.

History and Curiosities

In the heart of the Tuscan Maremma, the Tenuta La Badiola produces Acquagiusta Vermentino 2025 with the utmost respect for nature. After a meticulous manual harvest carried out in September, the whole grapes undergo gentle pressing to preserve every nuance. Overseen by oenologist Daniele Orazzini with a minimal intervention approach, the wine is aged for four months in stainless steel. The result is an elegant Costa Toscana IGT that exudes a pleasant freshness and a pronounced acidity, authentically expressing the character of the region.

In the heart of the Maremma, near Castiglione della Pescaia, where Lake Prile once stood. Here, in the mid-19th century, the Grand Duke of Tuscany wanted to build his agricultural estate: a project that Terra Moretti continues to pursue, with 500 hectares of vineyards, olive groves, hills, woods and the maximum expression of the biodiversity of the Mediterranean scrub.

The Acquagiusta vineyards cover thirty hectares, divided into two vineyards: we chose to position our vineyards by studying the exposure of the plants to the elements, in order to recreate the ideal conditions of water, soil, sun and wind and to exploit the strong character of the soil.

We want our wines to be pure and sincere: this is why we work with the utmost respect for natural processes, intervening as little as necessary. In this way, we enhance the grapes, keep the characteristics of the territory intact and create an authentic product.

Our work is based on tradition and experimentation. While rooted in Tuscan winemaking tradition, our style is constantly evolving: only by making the most of the fruits of the earth can we produce a wine that embodies its spirit and character.
