Description
What kind of wine it is
Kurtatsch Pinot Nero Riserva Mazon is a still red wine that elegantly expresses the typical characteristics of Pinot Noir from Alto Adige. The bouquet opens with notes of black cherries, wild berries and violets, enhanced by delicate toasted nuances. On the palate, it reveals a dense and profound structure, enlivened by a pleasant freshness and a subtle mineral streak. This refined complexity makes it ideal to pair with pork dishes, cured meats and mature cheeses.
Where it comes from
The grapes come from the renowned Mazon vineyard, located in the municipality of Egna in Alto Adige. The rows stretch across south-west facing slopes, at an altitude between 350 and 450 metres. This position ensures a cool climate, essential for a slow and balanced ripening of the grapes. The soil, composed of sand, red-brown silty earth and silty conglomerate, gives the wine a pronounced mineral personality, the result of a deliberately low yield per hectare.
How it is produced
Production begins with a rigorous selection of the grapes and a cold maceration lasting five days. Fermentation takes place spontaneously in stainless steel tanks thanks to the action of indigenous yeasts, followed by malolactic fermentation. To best integrate the fruity and toasted components, the wine matures for twelve months in barrels and completes its journey with a further period of rest in the bottle before being released to the market.
