Description
What kind of wine it is
Kettmeir Gewürztraminer Alto Adige is a still white wine of great aromatic expression, produced by Kettmeir. In the glass, it displays a straw yellow colour with brilliant highlights. The bouquet offers intense and well-defined aromas reminiscent of rose petals, tropical fruit and delicate sweet spices. On the palate, it reveals a full and refined sip, with an energetic and dynamic character. The natural freshness and savouriness balance the slight residual sugar, leading the tasting towards a long and aromatic finish with an unmistakable character.
Where it comes from
The grapes come from Trentino-Alto Adige, from mid-hill vineyards located in the municipalities of Caldaro, Termeno and Terlano. The vines grow at an altitude between three hundred and five hundred metres, trained on trellises using the Guyot system. The roots sink into clay and limestone soils, rich in stones and organic matter. This soil composition is fundamental in defining the clarity of the aromatic profile and ensuring the savoury imprint typical of the Gewürztraminer variety.
How it is produced
Production begins with a manual harvest, carried out by selecting bunches at optimal ripeness. The white vinification process includes a brief cold maceration on the skins, an essential step to extract the primary aromatic compounds. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature. The process is completed with a targeted ageing on the lees, which enriches the wine's structure while preserving a perfect balance of acidity until it is released to the market.

Tradition as a value to be handed down, and progress as a vision to be perpetuated. Innovators, but with the awareness that one must not abandon the heritage of tradition, preserved as a fundamental bond with the land and one's own history.
One example is the architecture of the Kettmeir winery, preserved intact since the Second World War as a precious testimony to its past. And it is in the historic wine cellar, where both the wines rest in barrels and the classic method sparkling wines on ancient pupitres, that part of Kettmeir's success is realised under the watchful eye of oenologist Josef Romen.
The other place is the vineyards, stretching from Kaltern to the Ebnicherhof to Salurn, where Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Sauvignon, Moscato rosa and many other grape varieties grow, cultivated with absolute care, respecting all their varietal peculiarities. In every grape, the history of this land. In every drop, the know-how of its people. In every bubble, a way of being. Read more
