Description
What kind of wine it is
Galeae Dolceacqua by Ka Manciné is a Ligurian red that fully enhances the identity of the Rossese grape variety. This Rossese di Dolceacqua displays a ruby colour with violet highlights. On the nose, it reveals a refined profile, characterised by ripe fruit and delicate floral and spicy notes. The palate offers a dry, warm and smooth sip, supported by a well-defined structure and a pleasant savoury sensation. The finish is marked by a fine freshness and a persistent aftertaste. The balance between its components ensures remarkable longevity, allowing it to age positively for over a decade.
Where it comes from
The grapes are grown in the Galeae area of Soldano, in the Ligurian Val Verbone. The place name refers to an ancient Saracen prison camp, bearing witness to the area's deep history. The vines grow in a natural amphitheatre at four hundred metres above sea level, protected by a mild climate and favoured by a south-eastern exposure. The roots sink into clay-limestone soils rich in fragmented rocks, which are responsible for the wine's distinctive savouriness. In this environment between sea and mountains, Ka Manciné carries out careful vineyard restoration, strengthening the family's agricultural ties.
How it is produced
The agronomic approach is based on minimal intervention, using the traditional goblet training system with high planting density. Production involves a late harvest with overripe grapes, ideal for enriching the wine's organoleptic profile. Vinification includes a long skin maceration, with some of the bunches processed without destemming to extract the pure varietal essence. Fermentation and maturation take place exclusively in stainless steel tanks. This process avoids aromatic interference, preserving the wine's original lively taste.
History and Curiosities
The Ka Mancine Galeae Dolceacqua encapsulates the soul of the Val Verbone, the result of a project launched in 1998 to revive the most precious family traditions. This elegant DOC cru takes its name from the locality of Soldano, whose Saracen toponym recalls an ancient prison camp from the 12th century. A true expression of a historic grape variety of probable Hellenic origin, it is cultivated on clay-limestone hillside slopes. With a philosophy of minimal intervention, the winery offers an authentic red that tells the story of its deep connection to the Ligurian territory.

Thus began the adventure of Maurizio Anfosso dei Mancinei and his family, who, seizing the legacy of their ancestors, were able to give life to an extraordinary wine, with multiple nuances but with a soul as sincere as the land from which it comes. Read more
