Description
What kind of wine it is
Solessence Extra Brut is a Champagne that enhances the qualities of Chardonnay, blended with Meunier and Pinot Noir in a carefully balanced blend crafted using the Traditional Method. In the glass, it reveals a straw yellow colour animated by a fine and persistent perlage. The bouquet is fresh, with a citrusy opening that evolves into floral and fruity notes. On the palate, it displays a dry, lively structure with pronounced freshness. This dynamic taste profile ensures a pure and crystalline style, perfect for accompanying refined starters or an elegant aperitif.
Where it comes from
JM Sélèque's Champagne brings together the characteristics of seven different terroirs, notably the vineyards of Pierry, Moussy, and Épernay. The geology of these areas defines the character of the cuvée, thanks to clay-based soils with veins of flint and limestone, resting on a deep substratum of Campanian chalk. The winery has been enhancing this complex agronomic mosaic for generations. Such a multifaceted geographical origin gives the wine a well-defined structure, designed to maintain an authentic connection with its land of origin.
How it is produced
Vinification follows rigorous practices, dividing fermentation and maturation between stainless steel tanks and oak barrels. The identity of the cuvée is based on the contribution of a precious perpetual reserve, essential for giving consistency and depth to the sip. Part of the must undergoes malolactic fermentation in steel, while a portion matures in wood without it, to the benefit of the wine's acidity. After natural cold stabilisation, the prise de mousse follows the lengthy timescales of the Traditional Method. The production cycle concludes strictly without fining or filtration, ensuring the utmost expressive purity.
History and Curiosities
Founded in 1965, the J-M Sélèque winery expresses its identity through the Solessence Extra Brut. This Champagne is born from the union of seven different terroirs, characterised by clay soils and Campanian chalk. Designed to enhance moments of sharing, the wine benefits from a perpetual reserve aged in oak barrels and stainless steel. The meticulous vinification, free from fining and filtration, delivers a crystalline essence in the glass, enhanced by a fine and persistent perlage of rare elegance.

Quickly passionate about vines, Richard, son of Henri and Françoise, studied oenology and began producing Champagne when he joined the winery in 1974.
He brought modern equipment for vine cultivation and winemaking: a digger tractor, a new press, vats, etc. As a result, the estate grew rapidly, and in the 1990s, production reached 50,000 bottles.
1995 will remain in the company's memories as the year Henri passed away. The 'Comédie' blend was created to honour him with his portrait on the metal cap. Françoise - the late Henri's wife - passed away in 2011.
The third generation arrived in 2008 - Jean-Marc joined the estate after studying wine and travelling abroad. He brought new life and a very personal approach to the creation of Champagne. Read more
