Description

What kind of wine it is

Red Angel Pinot Nero is a still red wine that interprets Friulian Pinot Nero with utmost elegance. Produced by Jermann in the Venezia Giulia region, it appears in the glass with a delicate ruby red colour. Its aromatic profile weaves together lively scents of red fruits, subtle herbal hints and a delicate spiciness. On the palate, it offers a medium-full body, supported by velvety tannins that provide a harmonious and balanced sip. The tasting concludes with persistent mineral and spicy notes, making it ideal to accompany veal roasts, structured risottos and refined white truffle dishes.

Where it comes from

The vineyards grow in Villanova di Farra, in the heart of Friuli-Venezia Giulia, benefiting from a favourable south-west exposure. The soils are characterised by a marked presence of colluvial materials, with a shallow layer originating from the Eocene relief of Monte Fortino. These particular pedoclimatic conditions impart the wine with a distinct aromatic finesse and help develop a polished tannic texture, faithfully reflecting the authentic identity and distinctive character of the Gorizia area.

How it is produced

Vinification begins with fermentation in stainless steel, an ideal technical choice to preserve the natural freshness and aromatic integrity of the fruit. Subsequently, part of the batch undergoes twelve months of ageing in French oak barrels. This skilful passage in wood refines the overall structure without overpowering the varietal expression of Pinot Nero. The result is a lively sip, well balanced by a pleasant moderate acidity that defines its final harmony.

History and Curiosities

The Red Angel Pinot Noir Venezia Giulia IGT 2022 from Jermann expresses the prestige of Villanova di Farra. The winery has chosen to use the Stelvin Pechiney screw cap to preserve its fragrance and delicate organoleptic properties over time. This refined wine pays tribute to the company's history, recalling a period text on its evocative commemorative label. Recognised for its excellence with 90 points from James Suckling, it boasts remarkable ageing potential, able to maintain its innate elegance until 2031.
