Description

What kind of wine it is

Capo Martino is a still white wine from Friuli-Venezia Giulia by Jermann, made from a blend of native grapes including Friulano, Sauvignon Vert, Picolit and Ribolla Gialla. Belonging to the Venezia Giulia denomination, it shines in the glass with its golden yellow colour and an intense bouquet of apple, passionflower and broom, enriched by a subtle hint of vanilla. On the palate, it reveals a velvety texture, harmonious balance and a delicate aromatic quality. The complex flavour structure finishes with an exceptionally long persistence.

Where it comes from

This wine takes its name from a hill located in Dolegna del Collio, in the heart of the Gorizia area. The vineyards benefit from an exposure ranging from south-east to south-west, ideal for optimal ripening of the grapes. The vines are trained using the Guyot system on ponca soil, the characteristic marl and clay formation typical of the region. This particular geology, combined with a high planting density, ensures depth and expressive continuity, preserving the traditional local varieties and enhancing the area's authentic vocation.

How it is produced

Vinification involves a brief maceration on the skins, an ideal technique to maximise aromatic extraction. The must ferments and matures in Slavonian oak barrels for a period ranging from twelve to sixteen months, resting further before being released to the market. This process, the result of a strong family vision, gives the wine a full and enveloping body. The elegance of this white pairs perfectly with starters and vegetarian dishes, proving to be an ideal match for fish, such as sautéed octopus on a chickpea purée.

History and Curiosities

Born from the vision of the Jermann family, this wine takes its name from a hill in Gorizia purchased in 1991, once an ancient war outpost. Through the replanting of historic local native varieties, the winery continues the spirit of the “Little Dream”, the project that honours the journey of great-grandfather Anton. This profound farming heritage lives on today in the glass, evoking water, earth and its generous fruits: a fascinating tale that blends agricultural spirituality and family memories in a white wine of absolute elegance and extraordinary complexity.
