Description
What kind of wine it is
Chianti Classico Vigna Casanova dell’Aia by Istine is a still red wine that expresses the authentic character of Tuscan Sangiovese. This Chianti Classico Gran Selezione displays an intense ruby colour, revealing complex aromas typical of the Radda area. On the palate, it shows a structured flavour profile, resulting in a dry and harmonious taste. It pairs ideally with red meats, game, mature cheeses and first courses with rich sauces, ensuring a balanced and satisfying sip.
Where it comes from
The grapes come from the historic Vigna Casanova dell’Aia in Radda in Chianti, the family’s first plot, situated at 500 metres above sea level with a southern exposure. The soil, rich in rock, is characterised by layers of marl limestone, such as Alberese and Galestro, combined with the presence of clay. Cultivation follows organic and biodynamic farming practices, promoting a sustainable ecosystem that enhances the Radda terroir and gives the grapes a distinct savoury and mineral identity.
How it is produced
After the manual harvest, alcoholic fermentation takes place in cement vats at a controlled temperature for about 15-20 days. This is followed by a particular submerged cap maceration lasting around 45 days, also in cement, which is also chosen for malolactic fermentation. The maturation continues with 15 months of ageing in Austrian oak barrels, followed by 18 months of bottle ageing, resulting in an elegant and complex profile.

With the introduction of the second generation into the company, it is natural to start our own production in the bottle. The 2009 harvest and the first 3000 bottles of Chianti Classico concretely represent what has always been the great passion for wine, thus integrating and completing the family business.
The commitment for the future is to evolve and grow, while remaining faithful to the traditions and to our territory, trying to enhance as much as possible what nature is offering us and the viticultural peculiarities of the highest lands of the Chianti region.
We are certified organic since 2016. We believe in respect for nature, for the people working in the vineyard and for those who taste the wine in the glass. Read more
