Description
What kind of wine it is
Isole e Olena Vin Santo del Chianti Classico is a refined dessert wine made from dried grapes with a bright amber yellow colour. Born from a careful drying of Malvasia and Trebbiano grapes, it expresses an intense aromatic profile where citrus notes blend with hints of honey, apricot and dried fruit. On the palate it is soft and enveloping, characterised by a significant sweetness skilfully balanced by a pronounced acidity.
Where it comes from
This renowned dessert wine is produced in Barberino Tavarnelle, in the heart of the Tuscan region, reflecting the excellence of Vin Santo del Chianti Classico. The Isole e Olena winery is linked to the figure of oenologist Paolo De Marchi, whose production vision focuses on enhancing local identity. The area of origin gives the wine a perfect balance between sweetness and freshness.
How it is produced
The grapes undergo a targeted drying process to concentrate aromas and natural sweetness before fermentation. This meticulous process ensures remarkable longevity, allowing the wine to evolve for 10-15 years. Served at an optimal temperature between 10 and 12 °C, it is best enjoyed with dry pastries or intense blue cheeses, offering an enveloping contrast of flavours.

The wines have Cepparello at their head, a barrique-aged Sangiovese classified as an IGT - because at the time of its creation in the 1980s a wine comprising 100% Sangiovese could not legally be labelled as Chianti. There is a Chianti Classico and a Vin Santo, as well as some excellent wines from the Collezione de Marchi label, including a Syrah called Eremo, a Cabernet Sauvignon and a Chardonnay. Read more
