Description

What kind of wine it is

Pescanera Rosé is a still rosé wine, dry and lively, produced by Ippolito 1845. It is made from Greco Nero grapes and presents a bright peach-pink colour. On the nose, it releases a clear aromatic profile, characterised by notes of citrus, wild strawberries and white flowers. The palate is fresh and smooth, finishing with a pleasant final minerality that cleanses the palate, making it a suitable choice for those following a vegan diet.

Where it comes from

This rosé has its roots in Calabria, in the area of Cirò Marina, where the winery cultivates its vineyards by the sea. The influence of the Mediterranean climate imparts a distinct savoury note to the grapes, while the pronounced maritime character defines its personality, giving the palate a unique gustatory tension. The careful cultivation of the Greco Nero grape in this specific coastal strip enhances its olfactory qualities, delivering an authentic character balanced by the local breeze.

How it is produced

The process begins with a manual harvest followed by gentle pressing without maceration. The must ferments in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature and undergoes malolactic fermentation to balance the freshness. This is followed by six months of ageing in steel, a crucial step to stabilise the aromatic profile and preserve the original, vibrant clarity of the grapes.

It was in 1845 when Vincenzo Ippolito embellished his initials on the country house in the Cirò marina between vineyards, olive groves and orange trees. In a very varied agriculture, the vines begin to play an important role, although the wine consumption was strictly local. With more than 160 years of history, Ippolito Winery is the oldest winery in Calabria. Located in the historic center of Cirò Marina, the heart of Calabrian viticulture, the farm includes an estate of over 100 hectares, distributed between gentle hills and sunny plains close to the Ionian Sea, located in the classical Cirò area. The corporate mission has always been the recovery and valorisation of native grape varieties such as Gaglioppo, White Greek, Calabrian and lastly the Sheep. Through constant research, the use of innovative techniques, direct control of all production processes, we seek in our wines elegance, exclusivity and identity with their own territory. A fascinating challenge faced in the sign of absolute quality. Today, the company boasts 14 labels on 4 continents, a fact that more than any other confirms a significant entrepreneurial dynamism.
