Description

What kind of wine it is

Inama Carminium Colli Berici, crafted by Inama, is a Venetian red wine that expresses the pure character of Carmenere. Produced in the Colli Berici area, it stands out for its deep red colour with blue-violet highlights. The bouquet reveals distinct dark fruit aromas, aromatic herbs, black pepper and chilli. On the palate, it is full, juicy and balanced, supported by velvety tannins and a prolonged persistence. It is ideal for enhancing braised meats, game and mature cheeses, unleashing its full potential if decanted for an hour and served between 16 and 18°C.

Where it comes from

The grapes are grown in the historic Oratorio di San Lorenzo vineyard, located in the Colli Berici area. The Carmenere vines benefit from a southern exposure and grow at an altitude between 50 and 250 metres above sea level. The rows sink their roots into a red clay soil rich in iron on a limestone base, cultivated using Guyot and pergola training systems. This unique natural habitat, surrounded by wild wooded areas, defines the wine's herbaceous and spicy traits. The age of the vines, over fifteen years, and the carefully managed yield per hectare ensure grapes of excellent phenolic concentration.

How it is produced

Vinification begins with a rigorous manual harvest and subsequent destemming of the bunches. Maceration and fermentation take place over about twelve days in vertical vats at a controlled temperature. After racking and pressing, the wine completes malolactic fermentation in steel tanks. Ageing involves twelve months of rest in barrels, partly new and mostly previously used. Following a light filtration to preserve its structural integrity, bottling takes place. This process guarantees remarkable cellar longevity, allowing the organoleptic profile to evolve beautifully over time.

History and Curiosities

Introduced in 2015, Inama's Carminium showcases the most authentic expression of pure Carmenere, harmoniously blending complexity and finesse. The grapes come from the vineyards of the Oratorio di San Lorenzo, in the Berici Hills, where vines over fifteen years old sink their roots into iron-rich clay, surrounded by wild woods. This outstanding Venetian red, awarded 93 points by James Suckling and Falstaff, offers a structured palate with velvety tannins, ensuring extraordinary longevity until 2035.
