Description
What kind of wine it is
La Regista by Il Palagio is a Chianti Riserva that expresses the purest character of the Sangiovese grape variety. Its bouquet is broad and complex, skilfully intertwining notes of wild berries and ripe cherry with balsamic hints, red flowers, and touches of liquorice and sweet tobacco. To the eye, it presents a bright ruby red colour with elegant garnet highlights. On the palate, it is enveloping, warm and smooth, supported by a natural freshness of taste and a well-balanced acidity that makes each sip deep and velvety.
Where it comes from
This Chianti Riserva is born among the rolling hills of Figline Valdarno, in the province of Florence. The hillside vineyards surround a historic sixteenth-century residence, the beating heart of the organic farm Il Palagio. The vines are cultivated following the principles of sustainability and respect for soil biodiversity. The unique Tuscan microclimate ensures the grapes have a well-defined aromatic expression, giving the wine an unmistakable territorial identity and a balanced structure.
How it is produced
The vinification process involves a twelve-day maceration on the skins, essential for extracting colour and a rich polyphenolic texture. This is followed by fourteen months of ageing in wooden barrels, the ideal period to smooth out any roughness and perfectly integrate the spicy and toasted aromas. To fully appreciate its sensory profile, it is recommended to decant for about an hour and serve between 16 and 18°C. It is the perfect companion for succulent red meats, pork-based dishes and mature cheeses with a strong flavour.
History and Curiosities
Nestled on the picturesque hills of Figline Valdarno stands Tenuta Il Palagio, a historic 16th-century residence that has served as the summer retreat of Sting and Trudie Styler for over twenty years. Thanks to careful restoration, the estate is now an organic farm cultivating its 65 acres of vineyards with the utmost respect for the land. From this idyllic setting comes Chianti Riserva La Regista 2020, a prestigious DOCG-designated wine produced in 120,000 bottles, which since 2007 has embodied the authentic charm and rural revival of the Tuscan countryside.
