Description
What kind of wine it is
Il Borro is an elegant organic red, the result of a balanced blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah grapes. Visually, it displays a dark red colour enriched with deep purple highlights. Its aromatic profile stands out for the intensity of its wild berry notes, which harmoniously evolve towards warm spices and complex tertiary aromas reminiscent of cocoa and sweet tobacco. On the palate, it is pleasantly dry, supported by soft, well-refined tannins that lead the tasting towards a long, velvety finish.
Where it comes from
This wine expresses the authentic vocation of Tuscany, born from Il Borro's commitment to agriculture that respects the land. The estate follows a strict sustainable philosophy, making the most of soils ideal for the development of its grapes. This careful approach delivers a faithful expression of the landscape of origin, making this red the perfect companion for braised meats, wild boar stews and typical aged cheeses.
How it is produced
The winemaking process involves differentiated ageing to enhance the characteristics of each grape variety. The Merlot matures for eighteen months, resting partly in large barrels and partly in barriques, while the Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah evolve exclusively in barriques, half of which are new. This wood management shapes the structure of the sip, ensuring a polished tannin. These choices give the wine remarkable ageing potential, destined to evolve elegantly over the years.
History and Curiosities
The result of the dedication of Tenuta Il Borro, this prestigious Toscana IGT from 2020 expresses the harmony between the history and vocation of the region. Embracing a sustainable philosophy since 1993, the estate cultivates Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah grapes on soils with a marked geological identity. The result is a multi-award-winning organic wine, boasting an impressive 96 points from James Suckling. The meticulous ageing for 18 months in barrels and barriques shapes extremely smooth tannins, offering an intense sip that envelops the palate with warm tertiary aromas and a long, velvety finish.
