Description
What type of wine it is
Arsène Grand Cru Extra Brut by Henriet-Bazin is a Champagne with a structured profile, the result of a blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes. Produced using the Traditional Method, it is distinguished by an Extra Brut dosage that defines its dry and decisive character. The fine and persistent perlage precedes a powerful and rounded sip, shot through with a clear mineral freshness. The gustatory liveliness culminates in an energetic and clean finish, ideal for accompanying fish and fine cheeses.
Where it comes from
The grapes used for the Champagne come from the communes of Verzy and Verzenay, located in the prestigious Grand Cru territories of the Montagne de Reims. The vineyards enjoy a north-easterly exposure, a condition that ensures a balanced ripening of the clusters. The terroir is characterised by silty clays and fine sands, lying on a subsoil of pure chalk. This geological conformation, enhanced by the natural grassing practiced since 1890, is reflected in the glass, conveying an unmistakable mineral tension.
How it is produced
The production process begins with a rigorous manual harvest. The first fermentation takes place in enamelled tanks and includes a nine-month period on the lees, an essential phase for defining the finesse of the blend. Secondary fermentation follows the principles of the Traditional Method, with six years of ageing in the cellars. This long rest enriches the creaminess and complexity of the structural texture, offering an energetic drinkability supported by a vibrant note of freshness.
History and interesting facts
The Arsène Grand Cru 2016 Champagne celebrates the dedication of the Henriet-Bazin family, custodians of the Montagne de Reims since 1890. The prestigious plots of Verzy and Verzenay, managed with natural grass cover since their origins, provide excellent grapes harvested strictly by hand. The result is an exceptional vintage with a rigorous Extra Brut profile, capable of expressing in the glass all the energy and history of a legendary terroir.

His son Robert Henriet took over in 1830 and kept ont working. Driven by the enthusiasm for Champagne de Vignerons, he developed his clientele through fairs in Paris, Lille and Lyon.
In 1962 Daniel Henriet, grandson of the founder, was 16 years old when he decided to take over and study wine before joining his brothers on the family estate. A few years later he met Mademoiselle Micheline Bazin, daughter of winegrowers from Villers-Marmery whom he married in 1968. The union of their two families gave birth to Champagne Henriet-Bazin … I would not arrive until a few years later.
After spending my childhood in my father’s boots, I joined the house in 1991 and decided to keep all of my harvest for vinification.
