Description
What kind of wine it is
Gaston & Louise Henriet-Bazin is a Premier Cru Champagne in the Brut Nature style, crafted according to the strict Traditional Method. The blend combines Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, resulting in a dry, sharp profile with vibrant freshness. The addition of a historic perpetual reserve, aged in casks using the solera system, imparts remarkable aromatic depth while maintaining a precise palate. With its clean, crisp finish, it pairs harmoniously with starters, lean fish and cheeses.
Where it comes from
The grapes for this cuvée originate in the Montagne de Reims, in the renowned villages of Verzenay, Verzy and Villers-Marmery. The Henriet-Bazin winery has cultivated these lands since 1890, enhancing the historic plots of Livry, Voyettes, Alouettes and Voies. The east and north-east exposure ensures balanced ripening and excellent acidity retention. The terroir features a subsoil of pure chalk and calcareous gravel, enriched with silty clay, protected through natural grassing to promote soil biodiversity.
How it is produced
Vinification involves fermenting the must and leaving it on the lees for nine months in enamelled vats. The blend is then enriched with a perpetual reserve in casks using the solera system, which shapes the identity of the cuvée. The secondary fermentation takes place according to the Traditional Method, followed by at least three years of ageing on the lees. Disgorgement with zero dosage enhances the purity of the wine, offering a dry and essential tasting experience.
History and Curiosities
The Cuvée Gaston & Louise pays tribute to the legacy of the Henriet-Bazin family, who have been producing fine Champagne since 1890. It is born from the meeting of the renowned vineyards of Verzenay and Villers-Marmery, in the Montagne de Reims, from historic plots cultivated between 1963 and 2015. The prestige of this blend lies in the use of 30% perpetual reserve in solera, carefully preserved since 1968. Guardian of the vibrant memory of past vintages, each sip renews an authentic living cellar ritual that celebrates the pure essence of the terroir.

His son Robert Henriet took over in 1830 and kept ont working. Driven by the enthusiasm for Champagne de Vignerons, he developed his clientele through fairs in Paris, Lille and Lyon.
In 1962 Daniel Henriet, grandson of the founder, was 16 years old when he decided to take over and study wine before joining his brothers on the family estate. A few years later he met Mademoiselle Micheline Bazin, daughter of winegrowers from Villers-Marmery whom he married in 1968. The union of their two families gave birth to Champagne Henriet-Bazin … I would not arrive until a few years later.
After spending my childhood in my father’s boots, I joined the house in 1991 and decided to keep all of my harvest for vinification.

And for over 15 years now, we have been listening to the whispers of nature and have come to understand it better. Abandonment of weedkillers, respect for insects, grassing of our vines, sowing of plants to replace fertilizers, work in harmony with the lunar cycles … Read more
