Description

What kind of wine it is

The Champagne Aÿ Grand Cru Brut by Henri Giraud is a sparkling wine of great character that expresses the profile of a rigorous Brut Traditional Method. Its structure is born from a balanced blend that combines Chardonnay with Pinot Noir. On the nose, the Champagne stands out for its clear fruity aromas, accompanied by delicate floral notes and hints of brioche. On the palate, it is long and enveloping, offering an elegant and well-defined sip. Ideal as an aperitif, it pairs perfectly with lean fish dishes, refined starters, white meats and a selection of cheeses. The recommended serving temperature is 6-8 °C.

Where it comes from

The origin of this wine is deeply rooted in the territory of Aÿ Grand Cru, located in the heart of the French Champagne region. The Henri Giraud winery aims to convey the energy of the terroir in the glass, faithfully reflecting the interaction between the natural environment and the grape varieties. The production philosophy shuns industrial simplification, favouring an approach that values artisanal gestures and the pursuit of the highest geographical expression. This rigorous attention ensures the wine has remarkable longevity, guaranteeing an ageing potential that can range from ten to fifteen years.

How it is produced

Production follows a minimal intervention philosophy, designed to support the natural evolution of the raw material. Vinification completely excludes the use of stainless steel tanks: the wine base is in fact processed and aged in Argonne oak barrels, as well as in terracotta and sandstone vessels or amphorae. The subsequent processing faithfully follows the principles of the Traditional Method. The adoption of natural methods and the meticulous selection of materials used help to express the character of the grape varieties with creativity and technical precision.

History and Curiosities

The MV17 cuvée by Henri Giraud celebrates Champagne as a truly artisanal wine. An expression of the Aÿ Grand Cru terroir, this Brut is produced with minimal intervention winemaking, without stainless steel. Ageing in Argonne oak barrels and amphorae preserves the vineyard's vitality with minimal sulphites. Praised by critics, it boasts an ageing potential of 10-15 years.

From this winery
From the beginning, Henri Giraud winery has been committed to making Champagne 'the Great Wine of Champagne' again. Each of the company's cuvées explores new aestheticisms and conveys a strong message that goes far beyond the simple repetition of the ancestral gestures of the winegrower/artisan. This approach opposes the industrial simplification that strips these gestures of their very essence for the benefit of mass production.

Bound to the dream of perfection and the freedom to innovate, we naturally create great wines that concentrate and transpose the energy of the terroir Ay Grand Cru.

Learning from the experience of history without fearing revolution, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay vines only reveal themselves in the heart of noble materials: Argonne oak barrels, terracotta or sandstone.

Without steel and with minimum intervention and sulphur, the creative and natural winemaking process brings the company's wines as close as possible to the truth of the terroir and grape varieties. As a result, the spirit of the winery cannot be defined, as each of the cuvées drives it.
