Description

What kind of wine it is

Guarini C’era Una Volta Pinot Noir by Losito e Guarini is a still red wine that fully expresses the authenticity of Pinot Noir. The bouquet is complex, characterised by cherry notes and wild berries, enhanced by elegant hints of wild violet, acacia and black pepper. On the palate, it is enveloping and savoury, supported by a well-structured tannin and balanced by a pleasant freshness. The sip ends with a long and rounded finish, offering a faithful and refined expression of the grape variety.

Where it comes from

This wine originates from the Oltrepò Pavese, a district in Lombardy historically renowned for the cultivation of Pinot Noir. The vines grow on clay soil rich in calcareous marl and gypsum, an ideal composition to give depth and elegance to the grapes. The vineyards, managed with spurred cordon and Guyot systems, benefit from this unique terroir, which gives the wine a balanced flavour profile and a clear territorial character.

How it is produced

The hand-picked grapes undergo crushing and destemming, pre-fermentation maceration and macro-oxygenation. After temperature-controlled fermentation, maturation in steel ensures the preservation of the original aromatic liveliness of the fruit. If decanted for an hour, this red pairs effortlessly with game birds, roasts and soft cheeses. Its freshness also creates an interesting combination with grilled fish or international dishes such as escargot à la Bourguignonne.

History and Curiosities

Pinot Noir owes its name to the distinctive “pine cone” shape of its clusters and boasts deep roots dating back to the 1500s. This noble grape variety expresses a unique potential in the Oltrepò Pavese, where the marl-limestone soils shape its refined character. As an extremely sensitive grape, it requires expert handling in the cellar to best release its extraordinary aromatic richness. The C’era Una Volta label celebrates this tradition, preserving the scents of violet and red fruits.
