Description
What type of wine it is
Hautes Cotes de Nuits Blanc from Domaine Gros Frere et Soeur is a still white wine from the Hautes Côtes de Nuits appellation in Burgundy, made from Chardonnay grapes. In the glass, it presents a bright straw-yellow colour, enhanced by green and golden highlights. The bouquet opens with hints of acacia flowers and honeysuckle, followed by notes of toasted hazelnut, almond, peach, apricot, crisp pear and delicate citrus touches. On the palate, it offers remarkable freshness, expertly balanced by volume and roundness, closing with a persistent and harmonious finish.
Where it comes from
The grapes come from Burgundy, within the prestigious Hautes Côtes de Nuits area. This terroir gives the white wines a distinct olfactory precision. Production is signed by Domaine Gros Frère et Sœur, a historic estate rooted in Vosne-Romanée since 1830, the year Alphonse Gros settled there. The natural environment gives the wine an authentic expressiveness, capable of faithfully reflecting the territorial footprint of the regional hills.
History and curiosities
The history of the Domaine spans several centuries: Alphonse Gros founded it in 1830 when he settled in Vosne-Romanée following his marriage to Julie Latour.

Slowly, generation after generation, the Gros are able to acquire important parcels in the Grand cru Richebourg, Grand-Echézeaux, Echézeaux and Clos de Vougeot.
Today the Domaine is located in Vosne-Romanée on the rue des Grand Cru and is managed by Bernard Gros who takes care of the twenty hectares of properties divided into eight denominations.
After a selected harvest, followed by a further control on the vibrating table, the grapes are put in cement tanks cooled and reassembled several times until the beginning of fermentation, when the operation is replaced by the two classic daily pigeages.
The use of wood in aging is very measured; Bernard Gros recognizes the importance of new barriques and, even if used in good percentage, carefully selects the wood with which they are produced and monitors their roasting.
The most distinctive Grand cru in the prestigious collection of the Domaine is certainly the Clos de Vougeot, whose property parcel is called Musigni. The name derives from the fact that this little piece of the Grand cru vineyard, vast and not very homogeneous (over 50 hectares), is located in the northern part, adjacent to the Château and right in front of the important Grand cru Musigny. The northern part of the Clos de Vougeot is the most suitable to produce wines of structure, aromatic breadth and minerality. Read more
