Description
What kind of wine it is
Graci's Etna Rosato is a still Sicilian wine with Denomination of Controlled Origin that captures the essence of Nerello Mascalese, vinified in stainless steel. In the glass, it displays a pale pink colour, enhanced by subtle coppery highlights. The bouquet opens with clear notes of small red fruits and citrus, with mandarin standing out, followed by delicate marine hints and nuances of aromatic herbs. On the palate, it reveals a harmonious and elegant structure and a fine texture, finishing with a pleasant mineral persistence that makes it ideal for light dishes or to enrich an informal aperitif.
Where it comes from
The grapes are grown on the northern slope of the volcano, in vineyards located between the districts of Muganazzi and Arcurìa, within the municipality of Castiglione di Sicilia. The vines grow at an altitude between six hundred and seven hundred metres above sea level, benefiting from a breezy climate and a marked daily temperature range that ensures slow ripening of the bunches. The roots sink into a volcanic soil of dark brown colour, almost sandy in nature and well-drained. This soil is characterised by the absence of limestone and by its richness in iron and nitrogen, elements that define the wine's savoury and territorial identity.
How it is produced
The cellar process begins with a slow pressing without destemming of the bunches, aimed at maintaining the integrity of the fruit. The absence of maceration allows only the most delicate chromatic nuance of Nerello Mascalese to be extracted, preserving its authentic expressiveness and aromatic clarity. Vinification continues in stainless steel tanks, where the liquid rests. The final ageing lasts for five months in contact with the fine lees, a technical choice that gives the wine greater body, balance and depth, resulting in a finish that is clean, taut and vibrant.
History and Curiosities
The Graci winery cultivates certified organic native varieties on the northern slope of Etna. A particularly significant historical aspect is that the winemaking takes place in the historic palmento of Contrada Feudo di Mezzo, thus preserving the ancient winemaking traditions of the volcanic region.
