Description
What kind of wine it is
This still white wine embodies the essence of Alto Adige, made from Pinot Grigio grapes. It displays a bright straw yellow colour, offering intense aromas of ripe pear, white peach, floral hints and a touch of honey on the nose. On the palate, it stands out for its crisp and lively fruitiness, ensuring a delicate and balanced progression. Its refined freshness makes it ideal for pairing with light aperitifs, asparagus-based dishes and sophisticated vegetarian options.
Where it comes from
The vineyards grow on the breezy slopes of Cornaiano, located between Oltradige and Bassa Atesina. At an altitude of around five hundred metres, the terroir is characterised by a mineral-rich soil, formed from ancient glacial sediments that impart a distinct flinty nuance to the wine. Girlan enhances these historic hills, highlighting the deep Alpine vocation of the area and ensuring the grapes ripen perfectly to achieve a consistently fresh and precise profile.
How it is produced
The production process begins with a manual harvest carried out with great care to protect the integrity of the fruit. The must undergoes gentle pressing and natural sedimentation clarification, ensuring expressive purity. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature. Careful ageing on fine lees, also in steel, completes the process, giving the wine greater structure, smoothness and precision on the palate.
History and Curiosities
This elegant Pinot Grigio Alto Adige DOC originates from the historic Girlan Winery, founded in 1923. The grapes ripen on the hills of Cornaiano at an altitude of 500 metres, in mineral-rich soil of glacial origin that imparts flinty nuances and a lively crispness to the palate. The meticulous manual harvest and the refined ageing on fine lees in steel enhance the aromas of white peach and ripe pear. An authentic South Tyrolean excellence, perfectly combining freshness, balance, and a delicate softness.
