Description
What kind of wine it is
Flora Gewürztraminer by Girlan is a still white wine that precisely expresses the aromatic identity of Alto Adige. This Gewürztraminer reveals a multifaceted bouquet, characterised by notes of yellow roses, lychee, candied orange peel, and refreshing hints of ginger and mountain herbs. On the palate, it is full and enveloping, distinguished by a rounded structure where softness meets remarkable freshness and lively savouriness. The tasting concludes with a persistent finish, making it ideal to elegantly accompany spicy dishes, flavourful cheeses, and shellfish.
Where it comes from
The grapes are grown in the renowned areas of Alto Adige, among the vineyards of Oltradige and Bassa Atesina. The selected plots are located at an altitude between 450 and 500 metres, on gravelly and clayey soils rich in minerals and with a pronounced limestone component that ensures optimal drainage. This pedoclimatic context, characterised by strong temperature variations between day and night, is essential to enhance the aromatic finesse of the grape variety and preserve its acidity. The fruit from these prestigious microzones delivers the most authentic expression of the territory in the glass.
How it is produced
Production begins with meticulous manual harvesting to preserve the integrity of each bunch. In the winery, a whole bunch pressing is carried out, followed by a brief maceration and natural sedimentation of the must. Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks, safeguarding the fragrant primary aromas. The wine then matures with ageing on fine lees for eight months, a practice that imparts depth and flavour complexity. The absence of malolactic fermentation keeps the vibrant freshness of the sip intact, enhancing its tension and longevity.
