Description
What kind of wine it is
Flora Pinot Bianco Riserva by Girlan is a still white wine from Alto Adige that brings out the best characteristics of the Pinot Bianco grape. The aromatic profile opens with notes of pineapple, apricot and aromatic herbs, enriched by hints of white pepper, subtle buttery nuances and sweet spices. On the palate, it is dense and juicy, supported by vibrant acidity and a persistent mineral finish. Its elegant savouriness and rounded structure make it the ideal companion for seafood dishes, such as salmon tartare and delicate risottos, as well as white meats and cheese selections. It guarantees excellent longevity.
Where it comes from
The grapes come from selected plots in Cornaiano, on the Monte di Appiano and other renowned areas such as Mazzon and Gschleier. This specific zoning of Alto Adige allows for a masterful balance of savouriness and freshness. Near Cornaiano, the moraine components of the soil provide fullness and rich fruitiness, while the parcels at higher altitudes, characterised by silty-clay soils on a calcareous base, ensure backbone and structure. This complex interplay between different microclimates and altitudes shapes a wine of great expressive clarity, a true guardian of the identity of Oltradige and Bassa Atesina.
How it is produced
After manual harvesting, the whole bunches are gently pressed, followed by clarification through natural sedimentation. Fermentation takes place in large French oak barrels, accompanied by partial malolactic fermentation. Maturation continues for twelve months on the fine lees in the same barrels, giving the wine pronounced creaminess and impeccable aromatic integration. The process concludes with six months in stainless steel tanks and a subsequent period of bottle ageing. The wine expresses an elegant texture, showing its best when served between 12 and 14°C.
History and Curiosities
