Description
What kind of wine is it
Giovanni Montisci Cannonau Riserva Franzisca is a still red wine with a structured profile, made from Cannonau grapes. Produced within the Cannonau di Sardegna area, this reserve skilfully combines a solid body with vibrant freshness. The organic and sustainable approach, together with a production philosophy that excludes filtration, delivers a pure expression of the grape variety and enhances a soft yet always balanced tannic texture.
Where does it come from
This wine originates in Mamoiada, in Barbagia, where the grape variety meets a perfect climate for full ripening. The grapes come from old bush-trained vines grown at high altitude, with a low yield that ensures great aromatic density. The nature of the land guarantees a substantial and decisive character, while still retaining drive and smoothness. The result of careful viticulture, this limited production encapsulates a purely territorial imprint.
How is it produced
Vinification takes place without filtration to preserve the integrity of the raw material, ensuring excellent ageing potential. With a beautiful ruby colour tending towards garnet, the wine releases aromas of marasca cherry in spirit, violet, jasmine tea, star anise, pink pepper and roasted coffee. On the palate it is round, juicy and pleasantly crisp. It is recommended to decant for an hour and serve between 16 and 18°C alongside red meats, game and mature cheeses.
History and Curiosities
The Cannonau di Sardegna DOC Rosso Riserva Franzisca 2022 by Giovanni Montisci is an authentic expression of Mamoiada. It originates in Barbagia from two hectares of old bush-trained vines cultivated at high altitude, whose extremely low yields ensure concentration, body, and depth. This fine edition, limited to just 6,000 bottles, embodies a organic and sustainable approach through the use of 100% pure Cannonau grapes. The result of careful, vegan, and unfiltered production, the wine preserves the freshness of its place of origin intact.
