Description
What kind of wine it is
Barrosu by Giovanni Montisci is a still red wine made from Cannonau grapes grown using an organic approach. This expression of Cannonau reveals a ruby colour with violet hues and an intense aroma of blackberries, fresh rose, pink pepper and Mediterranean scrub. On the palate, it is dry and enveloping, supported by pronounced freshness and lively tannins that balance the fruity component, leading the sip towards a notably persistent finish.
Where it comes from
This wine originates in Sardinia, in the renowned area of Mamoiada, at the heart of Barbagia. The grapes come from old bush-trained vines grown at high altitude, characterised by extremely low yields. Such rigorous agronomic conditions impart great concentration and depth, while maintaining a vibrant freshness in a red wine with a solid structure. The artisan production, deliberately limited, enhances the authentic identity of this rugged and fascinating territory.
How it is produced
The Cannonau grapes are processed to preserve the integrity of the raw material, resulting in an unfiltered, sustainable wine suitable for a vegan philosophy. Strict adherence to natural processes ensures an ageing potential of over ten years. Served at a temperature of 14-16 °C after a brief decanting, it best expresses its aromatic intensity. It is the ideal companion for main courses based on pork, flavourful mature cheeses and traditional malloreddus with pecorino.
