Description
What kind of wine it is
The Giorgi Bonarda dell’Oltrepò Pavese Frizzante is a lively red wine made from Croatina grapes grown in Lombardy. It displays an intense ruby red colour, streaked with brilliant purple and violet highlights. On the nose, it offers a clear and fragrant profile, characterised by aromas of morello cherry, almond and fresh fruit. On the palate, it reveals a dry and enticing sip, offering a pleasant persistence. This straightforward character is best appreciated when served chilled; at the table, it proves ideal for accompanying pork-based dishes, meat stews, charcuterie boards or flavourful mature cheeses.
Where it comes from
This Lombard wine is a faithful expression of Bonarda dell’Oltrepò Pavese. Its region of origin has a long-standing tradition of enhancing Croatina, the symbolic grape variety of the area. Production is overseen by Giorgi, a winemaking company active since 1875 that exports its labels worldwide. The vineyards are managed with a yield of ninety quintals per hectare, an agronomic choice aimed at ensuring the proper development of the grape clusters and faithfully reflecting the productive character of the hilly terrain.
How it is produced
The process begins with the manual harvesting of the grapes, carried out in the second half of September. After crushing and destemming, the musts ferment in automated vinifiers, undergoing maceration at a controlled temperature between twenty-eight and thirty degrees for about eight to ten days. Subsequently, the wine undergoes complete malolactic fermentation. To precisely define the aromatic clarity, the process concludes with a six-month rest in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature. This approach is designed to preserve the fruit’s fragrance and maintain the balanced liveliness of the sip.

The Giorgi family has always firmly focused on the entire production chain: from the grape to the bottle, laying the foundations from the beginning to realise their grand project of creating a significant wine company. This project became a reality as early as 1970, when the brothers, Gianfranco and Antonio, built a second winery, modern and technologically very advanced, in Canneto Pavese.
With the construction of the third winery in Camponoce, Giorgi finally achieved national consecration in the 1980s, with a sales network of 80 representatives and a presence in the best restaurants and wine shops nationwide.
Today Giorgi Vini exports to 59 countries worldwide, has more than 160 agents in Italy, and has won the most important international and national awards (Three Glasses by Gambero Rosso and Five Bunches sommelier). In addition, Giorgi proudly represents Oltrepò Pavese in Italy and the world. Read more
