Description

What kind of wine it is

Sé by Gianfranco Fino is a still red wine that enhances the qualities of Primitivo. An expression of the Salento region, this wine develops an intense aromatic profile of cherry and wild berries, interwoven with fresh balsamic notes. On the palate, it reveals a structured and enveloping body, where silky smoothness is perfectly balanced by a clear freshness. The finish is long and persistent, offering pleasant and distinctive hints of Mediterranean scrub.

Where it comes from

The grapes are grown in the heart of the Salento peninsula, in the areas of Sava and the neighbouring provinces of Taranto and Brindisi. The vines grow at an altitude of about one hundred metres above sea level, sinking their roots into red calcareous-clay soils. This particular terroir, combined with the warm and dry climate tempered by the constant breezes from the Ionian Sea, encourages optimal ripening of the grapes. The maritime influence and the composition of the soil are directly reflected in the glass, ensuring a substantial sip that always maintains a pleasant fresh drive.

How it is produced

The harvest takes place at the end of August, selecting the bunches from bush-trained vines, a cultivation system that imparts a strong personality to the fruit. After vinification, the wine rests for nine months in barrels, alternating between new wood and previously used containers. This careful ageing process shapes a silky tasting texture, defining the structure without ever overpowering the wine's vibrancy. The final result harmonises the flesh of ripe fruit with elegant spicy notes.

History and Curiosities

Born from the creativity of Gianfranco Fino, Sé Salento IGT embodies the pure essence of Apulian Primitivo. The young bush-trained vines, caressed by the breeze from the Ionian Sea on calcareous-clay soils, yield excellent grapes harvested at the end of August. Thanks to nine months of maturation in barriques, the sip is silky and structured, enriched by intense aromas of cherry, wild berries and vibrant balsamic notes. A multi-award-winning wine, capable of evoking the scents of the Mediterranean maquis and enveloping the palate with a pleasant and unmistakable freshness.
