Description
What kind of wine it is
Langhe Nebbiolo by Giacomo Fenocchio is a still red wine that expresses the essence of the Nebbiolo grape in the Piedmontese territory of the Langhe. To the eye, it appears ruby red with garnet reflections. The bouquet is intense, dominated by notes of plum and cherry. On the palate, it is dry and full-bodied, supported by well-balanced tannins that make each sip harmonious, enriched by nuances of liquorice, rose, and tarry hints. Thanks to its defined structure, it is ideal for accompanying starters, cheeses, and red meat dishes or game, best served between 14 and 16 °C after an hour of decanting.
Where it comes from
The grapes come from the municipality of Monforte d’Alba, particularly from the renowned Bussia vineyard and from plots located in Cannubi and Villero. The rows are situated at around three hundred metres above sea level, with an eastern exposure that ensures consistent ripening of the bunches. The terroir rests on an Helvetian matrix composed of clay sediments, blue marl, and tuff. The presence of limestone and the richness of iron in the soil give the wine its typical dry character and promote the development of a precise and orderly tannic structure.
How it is produced
The harvest takes place in mid-October. In the cellar, vinification aims to preserve the essence of the fruit through fermentation in contact with the skins for ten days in stainless steel tanks, activated exclusively by indigenous yeasts. Once racking is complete, the ageing process involves six months in steel and a further six months in large Slavonian oak barrels. The production cycle concludes with a maturation period that consolidates the wine’s structural balance, ensuring a consistently linear and elegant sip.
