Description
What kind of wine it is
Gatinois Champagne Grand Cru Brut is an elegant and structured wine, an authentic expression of a skilful blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Crafted according to the rigorous Traditional Method, it stands out in the glass for its fine and persistent perlage. The Champagne reveals a clear aromatic profile, characterised by pear aromas and subtle hints of linden blossom. On the palate, the lively entry reveals a rounded structure, where the balance between ripe fruit and finesse leads to a finish with pleasant toasted notes.
Where it comes from
This wine originates in Aÿ, in the heart of Champagne, from prized vineyards classified as Grand Cru. The Gatinois estate has cultivated these hills for twelve generations, tending its hectares with a rigorous organic and sustainable approach. This meticulous agronomic management allows the purest essence of the soil to be extracted. The excellent origin ensures a profound territorial identity, offering a wine with clear aromatic precision and marked gustatory consistency.
How it is produced
The creation of this cuvée follows the principles of the Traditional Method, with secondary fermentation in the bottle. The wine matures in the cellars for two years: a careful ageing on the lees that enriches the complexity of the sip. This period gives the glass a deep golden yellow hue with captivating coppery reflections. Thanks to the balanced Brut dosage, the tasting offers immediate freshness, supported by a pleasant gustatory evolution that accompanies the fruity aromas towards seductive and harmonious toasted notes.
History and Curiosities

In the early 20th century, great-grandfather Emile MICHEL-LE CACHEUR was a fervent defender of the winemakers’ interests in Champagne. In 1911, he became one of the founding members of today’s SGV champagne syndicate. His daughter, Marie, married Charles GATINOIS in 1921 and continued her father’s work: the GATINOIS name has appeared on the bottles ever since.
Emile and Micheline GATINOIS took over the domaine after the Second World War. Between 1980 and 2010, their daughter Marie and her husband Pierre CHEVAL were at the helm of the prestigious family company. Dedication is clearly a family trait which has been passed on, as Pierre is the founder of the Villa Bissinger (The National Institute of Wines from Champagne) and currently chairs the Champagne Landscapes Association that lead to their listing to the Unesco World Heritage list in 2015. His son, Louis, now perpetuates the family’s 300 years of knowhow. Read more
