Description

What kind of wine it is

Galante Romagna Sangiovese Appassimento by Terre Cevico expresses the authentic soul of the Sangiovese grape variety. In the glass, it displays a deep ruby red colour, enhanced by violet reflections. The bouquet reveals intense marasca cherry notes, ripe cherry and violet, enriched by hints of dried plum and chocolate. On the palate, it is dry and enveloping, supported by fine, rounded tannins that are harmoniously integrated, leading to a long finish with a pleasantly fruity aftertaste.

Where it comes from

This red wine originates in Emilia-Romagna and showcases the dedication of Terre Cevico. Its belonging to the Romagna area establishes an unbreakable bond with its land of origin. Thanks to its concentrated structure, it is the ideal companion for rich and flavourful dishes. It pairs excellently with mature cheeses, pasta with ragù, game, and roasted red meats, enhancing even the most succulent dishes with its intensity.

How it is produced

The winemaking process follows the particular appassimento technique, which involves the use of partially dehydrated Sangiovese grapes to concentrate aromas and extractive components. Afterwards, the wine matures in concrete vats for a period ranging from six to twelve months, acquiring a soft and velvety texture. To best appreciate its organoleptic qualities, it is recommended to decant for one hour and serve at a temperature between sixteen and eighteen degrees Celsius.

History and Curiosities

Born from the passion of Terre Cevico, a historic cooperative founded in 1963, Galante Romagna DOC enhances the winemaking vocation of Romagna through the ancient art of appassimento. This technique naturally concentrates the aromas of the finest Sangiovese grapes, releasing intense notes of morello cherry, plum and chocolate. The name pays tribute to the grace of a gentleman from a bygone era, an elegance reflected in a refined sip with a slightly sweet finish. A harmonious red that envelops the palate with velvety tannins and an extraordinarily creamy texture.

Terre Cevico was founded, as a cooperative, in 1963, producing wine from grapes grown by its members throughout Romagna.

In the 1960s and ’70s Terre Cevico began trading its wine, exclusively in bulk. A step forward, in the ’80s and ’90s, was that of selling in standard and larger-size bottles. Since 2000, in line with feedback from the market, Terre Cevico has started to produce and package wines in cartons and bottles for the HORECA channel.

Today Terre Cevico is a Group that operates principally in Emilia Romagna, but also with its own wineries in Veneto and Puglia. Terre Cevico’s wines are present in 69 countries around the world, especially in, Japan, Russia, Sweden, United States, Great Britain and Vietnam, with a consolidated group turnover of 196,7 million Euros.
