Description
What type of wine it is
The Conegliano Valdobbiadene Rive di Guia Terra Merita Extra Dry from the Gabe winery is a white sparkling wine produced in Veneto, made entirely from the Glera variety. A rigorous expression of the Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore designation, this wine is distinguished by its fresh aromatic profile, which is smooth and structured. On the palate, it is balanced, supported by a fine and creamy perlage and enriched by hints of Reinette apple, pear, and subtle notes of turmeric. It is a wine with an immediate character and technical precision, whose roots are firmly planted in its territory of origin.
Where it comes from
The grapes destined for this label grow in Veneto, within the limited and renowned Rive di Guia sub-zone. The vineyards are rooted in deep, clayey soils, characterised by a high concentration of rock and sand conglomerates. This unique geology ensures optimal water management for the vines, infusing the final product with a clear freshness and solid natural acidity. The name of the wine evokes the ancient term for turmeric, recalling the spicy Mediterranean nuances that are indissolubly linked to these hills, directly influencing the oenological style described in the subsequent production phase.
How it is produced
The oenological process begins with a gentle pressing of the grapes, immediately followed by the static decantation of the must. Alcoholic fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature between 18 and 19 degrees, using selected yeasts. The wine then rests on the fine lees for at least three months, acquiring greater gustatory volume. The secondary fermentation is conducted using the Charmat method, with re-fermentation in large tanks that lasts for approximately thirty to forty days. This method enhances the primary fragrance of the grape variety, defining a harmonious structure that excellently accompanies light fried foods, tempura, and ethnic dishes.
History and trivia
This fascinating sparkling wine was born as a sincere tribute to the inexhaustible dedication of the founder, Gabriella Benedetta Vettoretti, and her deep bond with her land. The most intriguing feature of this label lies in its unique name, Terra Merita, which historically recalls the ancient name for turmeric. This curious linguistic and conceptual choice anticipates the product's subtle oriental hints. It represents a true historical and personal tribute set in the beating heart of the prestigious Conegliano Valdobbiadene DOCG appellation.
