Description
What kind of wine is it
Albizzia Chardonnay by Frescobaldi is a still, dry white wine with Indicazione Geografica Tipica Toscana status. Made from Chardonnay grapes fermented and matured in stainless steel, it boasts a fresh aromatic profile characterised by citrus notes of citron and lime. The bouquet is enriched with hints of tropical fruit, such as pineapple and banana, finishing with delicate nuances of aromatic herbs and mint. On the palate, it offers a soft entry, evolving into a long and harmonious finish with excellent balance.
Where does it come from
This wine originates in the heart of central Italy, reflecting Tuscany's winemaking tradition. It is produced on the Frescobaldi estates, specifically in the municipality of Pelago, in the province of Florence. The vineyards are situated at an altitude between 150 and 500 metres, an ideal geographical condition to give vibrancy to the grape variety. Thanks to this territory, the Chardonnay develops a balanced structure and a pronounced aromatic clarity, resulting in a distinctly linear expression.
How is it produced
Production begins with a careful selection of the grapes, followed by cellar processes designed to preserve the delicate primary aromatic components of the variety. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks, a key technical choice to maintain the precision and clarity of the aromatic profile. The wine then undergoes a three-month maturation also in steel, preserving its fruity character. The result is a brilliant straw yellow colour with emerald highlights.
History and Curiosities
The Albizzia Chardonnay Toscana IGT embodies the centuries-old dedication of the Marchesi Frescobaldi, producers for over a millennium. The name pays tribute to the family of the same name, pioneers in introducing this grape variety to the region, and to the albizia flower, brought to Europe in 1740 by one of their ancestors. Thus, the Tuscan heritage is renewed in every glass, celebrating the historic bond between the Frescobaldi family and the region's centuries-old winemaking tradition.
