Description

What kind of wine it is

Franciacorta Zero Casa delle Colonne is an elegant sparkling wine by Freccianera. Made from a blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, it fully expresses the essence of the Lombardy region. It displays a pale straw yellow colour with golden highlights. The bouquet combines freshness and complexity, enhanced by a fine and persistent perlage. On the palate, it is very well-balanced, enriched by elegant toasted notes on the finish. Ideal as an aperitif, it pairs excellently with starters, seafood dishes and cheeses at a temperature of 6-8 °C.

Where it comes from

This wine originates in Franciacorta, in the renowned municipality of Borgonato di Cortefranca. In this area, Freccianera began its activity by enhancing the potential of local grapes. Thanks to a strong partnership with oenologist Cesare Ferrari, the winery is dedicated to creating wines designed for long ageing. The family approach accompanies the wine from the vineyard to the glass, shaping a complex structure capable of conveying the true identity of Franciacorta through a natural process.

How it is produced

Production strictly follows the principles of the Traditional Method, with the second fermentation taking place in the bottle. The wine, which harmoniously combines Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, undergoes a slow ageing on the lees carried out without any adjustments. This philosophy results in a zero dosage, completely free of residual sugars, to ensure a dry, essential and very profound sip. The absence of dosage delivers a pure wine, with an authentic and unmistakable territorial character.

History and Curiosities

Located in Borgonato di Cortefranca, the family-run Casa delle Colonne estate began its production in 1977 together with oenologist Cesare Ferrari. Created to celebrate the company's thirtieth anniversary, the Millesimati range stands out for its limited editions and long ageing periods. This exclusive 2015 Vintage Reserve embraces a purist philosophy, maturing on the lees naturally and without any intervention. This Franciacorta Dosaggio Zero boasts 5 Bibenda bunches and 3 Veronelli gold stars.

In the holographic will of Count Ignazio de Terzi Lana dated 15 June 1893, six months before his death in Borgonato di Corte Franca, a detailed list of the properties left to the nobles of the time, to the Church, but above all to Francesco Berlucchi, consort of Giustina de Terzi Lana, the Count's daughter, was found.

From the love between Francesco and Giustina, Ignazio, the first-born son, and Antonio Berlucchi, the second-born son, were born. On the death of his father Francesco, the eldest son Ignazio inherited the historical palace of the Lana-Berlucchi family, while the second-born Antonio inherited the Casa delle Colonne and a set of agricultural plots particularly suited to the cultivation of vines. Antonio founded the farm in 1927, which he then left to his five children, siblings Francesco, Gabriella, Marcello, Roberto and Pia Donata Berlucchi.

In 1977, the siblings began to produce Franciacorta, initiating the historic and current collaboration with oenologist Cesare Ferrari; on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of production, the Freccianera millesimati line was born: Millesimo 2007, a limited series of 3,000 bottles destined to be released on the market after 6 years of ageing on the lees.

The arrow shot from the medieval past that the family's palaces and vineyards recount, arrives today, with the unchanged black colour, from the first label of 1977.
