Description
What kind of wine it is
Sofi Rosso, crafted by Franz Haas, is a structured wine that combines character and aromatic precision. This blend of Lagrein and Merlot displays an intense garnet red colour, releasing layered aromas of red fruits, cherry, and delicate floral hints of violet, enriched by subtle herbal and spicy nuances. On the palate, it is dry, juicy, and harmonious, supported by lively fruit and measured tannins. Its versatility and freshness make it the ideal choice to accompany grilled meats, flavourful cheeses, pork-based dishes, and rich first courses.
Where it comes from
The grapes are grown on the slopes of Trentino Alto Adige, within the Vigneti delle Dolomiti denomination. Situated with a southern exposure between 230 and 850 metres, the vineyards benefit from cool nights and sunny days that ensure slow ripening and great elegance. The Lagrein on traditional pergola and the Merlot trained with Guyot thrive on sandy and porphyritic soils. These pedoclimatic conditions give the glass a vibrant Alpine tension, enhancing the clear expression of the territory.
How it is produced
Production enhances the identity of the grapes through separate vinification of the two varieties, followed by a careful final blending. The entire winemaking process, from fermentation to maturation, takes place exclusively in steel tanks, a technical choice aimed at preserving maximum aromatic clarity. With a yield of sixty hectolitres per hectare, the meticulous work in the cellar delivers an expressive freshness that fully reflects the nature and rigorous character of the mountain landscape.
History and Curiosities
Sofi Rosso was born from a love for family and the historic excellence of Franz Haas, a renowned winery founded in 1880. This modern red wine fulfils the wish of Sofia, the producer's daughter, to sign a joyful and personal label, a dream she had cherished since childhood. Guided by a deep passion and a rigorous technical approach, the company has created a range that enhances the authentic expression and Alpine freshness of the Dolomites. An ideal bottle for sharing moments of pure conviviality and cheerfulness in excellent company.

Each Franz Haas with his own touch and style.
According to Franz Haas, science and calculations are indeed necessary to obtain superb wines, but it is love, passion, and determination that are essential to give them character and complexity.
It takes art, the one you have in your blood, a loving creative genius, like the one of Franz Haas VII, who today leads the winery with his team. Read more
