Description

What kind of wine it is

Franz Haas Gewurztraminer is a still white wine characterised by an intense golden colour. On the nose, it is deep and complex, with notes of lychee, rose and orange zest, enhanced by sweet spices such as cloves and nutmeg. On the palate, it is full-bodied and stimulating, supported by a solid structure and vibrant freshness, finishing with a persistent finish and a pleasant bitter aftertaste.

Where it comes from

It comes from the vineyards of Alto Adige, located between 350 and 650 metres above sea level, spread across the municipalities of Montagna, Gleno, Pinzano and Mazzon. The south-west exposure and deep, clay-rich soils with abundant stones give the wine an elegant saline-mineral perception. Production is overseen by Franz Haas, a historic estate that has been operating for seven generations with the aim of expressing the utmost fidelity to its terroir of origin.

How it is produced

The Gewurztraminer grapes undergo a short skin maceration to extract aromas and structure. This is followed by fermentation at a controlled temperature in steel tanks, designed to preserve the varietal fragrance. The process concludes with maturation on the lees for about six months, enriched by frequent bâtonnage, a practice that increases persistence and body before resting in the bottle.

Since the beginning, we work to express in the best possible way the quality of the wines we produce. The winery was founded in 1880 and has been passed down through eight generations to the first-born child of the family, who has the honour and responsibility of carrying the same name, Franz.

Franz Haas is not just a winery, it is not just a brand. Franz Haas is a man, a family who has been producing wine for seven generations, and for seven generations has put into its wines the same philosophy of life: the constant and endless pursuit of perfection. Each Franz Haas with his own touch and style.

According to Franz Haas, science and calculations are indeed necessary to obtain superb wines, but it is love, passion, and determination that are essential to give them character and complexity.

It takes art, the one you have in your blood, a loving creative genius, like the one of Franz Haas VII, who today leads the winery with his team.
