Description

What kind of wine is it

François Carillon's Puligny Montrachet is a still white wine from Burgundy, made from Chardonnay grapes. In the glass, it displays a sparkling pale gold colour, introducing an aromatic profile defined by notes of citrus, white flowers and a delicate hint of pastry. On the palate, it reveals a precise balance between volume and tension, outlining a creamy texture that finishes with a distinctly saline and mineral character. The style is harmonious and boasts remarkable ageing potential.

Where does it come from

This wine originates in the heart of the Côte de Beaune, within the renowned Puligny-Montrachet appellation, in a region situated between Meursault and Chassagne-Montrachet. The vineyards stretch across brown, stony limestone soils, characterised by excellent natural drainage and an eastern exposure. These ideal pedoclimatic conditions allow the Chardonnay to fully express its characteristics, including a pronounced gustatory tension and marked savouriness. The estate's plots are located very close to the prestigious Grand Cru sites of the area.

How is it produced

The vinification aims to preserve the expressive purity of the grapes, followed by a careful period of maturation in barrels overseen by François Carillon. This maturation phase is essential for defining the wine's creamy texture, while maintaining the lively acidity typical of the region. The process concludes with bottling at the estate, ensuring rigorous control at every stage. The final result is a concentrated and structured sip, distinguished by a long persistence that enhances Burgundy's identity.

The François Carillon Domaine, created in 2010, is the long-lasting legacy of a wine family business that dates back to the 16th century in Puligny-Montrachet, a very typical wine village in south of Côte de Beaune - Burgundy’s most renown terroir for white wines.

Located in the heart of the village, the estate owns and manages today a sixteen-hectare-vineyard located in Puligny-Montrachet, Chassagne-Montrachet and Saint-Aubin. The estate produces about seventeen (depending on the harvests) different appellations, mainly in Chardonnay.

Between passion and precision, the ambition of the François Carillon Domaine is to produce fine, elegant and gourmet wines, representative of the exceptional terroirs from which they come.

Referenced in best restaurants of the world, François Carillon's white wines are also praised by wine experts and wine lovers, who recognize their exactitude and balance.
