Description
Type of wine
Marsala Secco Superiore Riserva Florio is a fortified white wine with a Protected Designation of Origin from Sicily. Characterised by a typical oxidative style obtained through ageing in barrels and micro-oxygenation, it displays a bright amber hue with elegant golden highlights in the glass. On the nose, it expresses intense notes of dried fruit, caramel and citrus peel, enriched by delicate spicy notes. On the palate, it is dry and vertical, offering a long savoury finish and pleasant sensations of ripe fruit. Enjoyed as an aperitif or at the end of a meal, it pairs well with dark chocolate, cheeses and pastries, also proving to be an excellent cocktail ingredient.
Provenance
This fascinating wine is born in the province of Trapani, Sicily. Marsala represents a symbol of the territory, faithfully reflecting the character of the island. The geographical origin clearly defines the dry, enveloping and decisive character of this fortified wine, offering an authentic expression of the Sicilian landscape.
How it is produced
Vinification begins with a strong extraction using a traditional press, aimed at obtaining musts rich in colour, high dry extract and a marked marine savouriness. Fermentation takes place in concrete tanks through continuous micro-oxygenation, an essential process that prepares the wine for fortification. The latter involves a careful blend composed of wine, mistelle, brandy and cooked must. The prolonged ageing develops in two distinct phases: a slow maturation in oak barrels for approximately eighteen months, followed by a further period of refinement in the bottle to complete the overall harmony.
