Description
Wine style
Inzolia Fornelli by Feudo Montoni is an organic still white wine with the Terre Siciliane Typical Geographical Indication (IGT), made exclusively from Inzolia grapes vinified and aged in concrete, which presents a yellow colour with greenish reflections. The bouquet is defined by floral scents of broom and chamomile, combined with notes of pear, yellow melon and honey. On the palate, it reveals an elegant and precise structure, in perfect balance thanks to persistent freshness and well-integrated acidity. The finish is relaxed and characterised by a marked minerality that highlights the purity of the grape variety and pleasantly prolongs the sip.
Provenance
This white wine is rooted in the agricultural heart of the province of Agrigento, in Cammarata, within the renowned Fornelli vineyard. The rows are located at about five hundred metres above sea level with an easterly exposure, an ideal position to preserve the natural freshness of the grapes. The clayey and sandy soils of the area give the wine a distinctive mineral tension. The name of the cru refers to the ancient local kilns, once used to fire clay and produce wine amphorae. The history of Feudo Montoni has ancient origins, dating back to 1469, when the original baglio (fortified farm estate) was founded.
How it is produced
The harvest is carried out manually, carefully placing the bunches into small crates. The vines, with an average age of thirty years, are Guyot-trained. In the cellar, fermentation in concrete involves maceration on the skins for part of the process, allowing for the extraction of aromatic compounds and unique textures. A six-month ageing on the lees follows, also carried out in concrete tanks. Periodic bâtonnage and constant contact with the lees give depth and continuity to the body of the wine, preserving the brilliance of the fruit and its clear mineral imprint.
History and curiosities
The history of Feudo Montoni began in 1469, with the construction of the original baglio by the Abatellis family in the heart of Sicily. This organic wine originates in Cammarata from the Fornelli cru, whose name evokes the ancient local kilns: in the past, in fact, the precious clay from these soils was expertly fired to shape wine amphorae, jars and bricks. A deep connection with the thousand-year-old artisanal tradition of the Agrigento territory which, even today, bestows a unique identity and great charm upon every glass.

At the end of the 19th century, the estate passed into the hands of the Sireci family, in the person of Rosario, the grandfather of the current owner Fabio. With Fabio, this continuous evolution continues in the name of the most rigorous integration with nature, so much so that, since 2013, the entire production has been certified organic.
The company's philosophy is based on the use of natural forces for wine production: "gravity" as a means of transport, "time" as a refiner, winter and the "mountains" as a refrigerator. Read more
