Description

What kind of wine it is

Ferrari Perlé Nero Riserva is a refined Trentino Blanc de Noirs, a proud expression of Pinot Noir. Crafted according to the principles of the Traditional Method, it stands out for its dry profile and extremely fine perlage. The bouquet reveals intense fruity aromas, mineral hints and delicate toasted notes. On the palate, it is taut and energetic, enhanced by the Extra Brut dosage. The citrus freshness and pronounced savouriness blend into an enveloping sip, culminating in a persistent finish with hints of almond, ideal paired with flavourful cured meats or structured dishes such as traditional bucatini alla carbonara.

Where it comes from

The grapes for this wine originate in the Trento area, a terroir renowned for Trentino's sparkling wine excellence. The bunches come from the high-altitude vineyards of the Villa Margon, Maso Orsi and Maso Valli estates. This distinct mountain origin ensures slow ripening, giving the wine absolute aromatic precision. The project was born from Giulio Ferrari's dream to create an artisanal Traditional Method inspired by Champagne, a goal achieved after years of research. The high-altitude vineyards provide the necessary temperature variation to preserve the vibrant freshness and integrity of the fruit.

How it is produced

After the mid-September harvest, the Pinot Noir undergoes gentle pressing. Fermentation takes place without skin maceration, preserving the clarity of the must. The prise de mousse follows the rigorous process of the Traditional Method, developing profound complexity through a long ageing on the lees of at least six years. This maturation imparts a creamy texture and a fine perlage. The final dosage enhances the clarity of flavour, offering a linear sip in which the maturity of the fruit elegantly balances the soft toasted notes.

History and Curiosities

The legend was born from Giulio Ferrari's dream of creating a Classic Method inspired by Champagne. The result of forty years of research, the Ferrari Perlé Nero Riserva is the first and only Blanc de Noirs from the winery, a pure expression of Pinot Noir from the 2015 vintage. The grapes, grown on the high-altitude estates of Villa Margon, Maso Orsi and Maso Valli in Trentino, rest on the lees in the bottle for at least six years. This majestic Trentodoc Extra Brut offers absolute elegance, awarded the Tre Bicchieri by Gambero Rosso and 92 points by Vinous.

The legend of Ferrari began with a man, Giulio Ferrari, and his dream of creating a wine in Italy inspired by the finest French Champagne.

A skilled and painstaking enologist who had studied at the prestigious School of Viticulture in Montpellier, Giulio created Ferrari in 1902, producing very few, extremely select bottles at a prohibitive price, but which were still never bought to satisfy the demand of wine lovers. In 1952 Bruno Lunelli, the owner of Trento’s best-known wine bar took over Ferrari from Giulio, who continued to work in the winery until his death. Then, thanks to meticulous labour in the winery and his innate entrepreneurial verve, Bruno Lunelli increased production until it reached a hundred thousand bottles a year. In the decades that followed, Bruno Lunelli’s sons, Gino, Franco and Mauro, brought the company, which produces exclusively Classic Method sparkling wines, to the apex of quality and fame - in other words, to the peak of excellence.

Today, as was the case in the past, the Lunelli family continues to be the lifeblood of the Ferrari brand. The third generation runs the company with respect for the past and clear ideas for the future.
Their goal is to preserve the prestige of the leading producer of the Classic Method sparkling wines in Italy and one of the top ten in the world. Whilst proudly maintaining the structure of a family-owned company, the Lunelli have conquered the market through business strategies that have made Ferrari into much more than just a successful brand. The company is a real international legend, producing the best of "Made in Italy".
