Description
What kind of wine it is
Coteau du Houet from Ferme de la Sansonniere is a still white wine from the Loire. Made exclusively from Chenin Blanc grapes, this wine appears in the glass with a bright straw yellow hue. On the nose, it expresses delicate floral aromas, leading to a dry and elegant palate. The taste structure reveals a taut progression, culminating in a long and persistent finish that reflects the complexity of the terroir. It falls under the Vin de France category and pairs ideally with fish, shellfish, and blue cheeses, served at a temperature of 10–12 °C, thanks to its remarkable ageing potential.
Where it comes from
This label originates in Thouarcé, where Ferme de la Sansonniere manages eight hectares of vineyard with utmost agricultural rigour. The estate is conceived as an interconnected mixed farm, where the vines coexist with orchards, wheat fields, and cattle farming. Agronomic practices aim for minimal impact: the soils are not ploughed, the grass is rarely cut, and the vines grow freely to optimise sun exposure. The company pursues energy self-sufficiency by using solar panels and resources from within the estate, ensuring a balanced ecosystem that promotes plant vitality.
How it is produced
The production follows Mark Angeli's vision, focused on purity. The harvest selects only perfectly ripe and healthy grapes. Fermentation takes place with minimal intervention in the cellar, allowing the must's potential to shine without invasive manipulation. To preserve the original substance and expressiveness, the wine undergoes no fining or filtration. This approach delivers a clear aromatic profile and an authentic taste, fully consistent with the characteristics of its place of origin.
History and Curiosities
Coteau du Houet 2021 is a refined Chenin Blanc from the Loire, crafted by the skilled hands of Mark Angeli. This wine from Ferme de la Sansonnière reflects a profound ecological philosophy: on its eight hectares of vineyard, low-intervention viticulture is practised, where the absence of ploughing helps preserve the authenticity of the terroir. The estate integrates agriculture, livestock farming, and renewable energy. From the vinification of only perfect grapes and without the addition of sulphites, floral aromas emerge, evolving into a persistent finish of rare complexity.

Eight hectares farmed with vineyards, alongside a cattle breed "pois noir" from which quality manure is obtained, two hectares of wheat and an orchard of 3000 sq. M.
As if it were not enough, Mark uses electricity from solar panels, heats up with a boiler powered by crushed wood from his forests, travels on a compressed air car, and uses a rectified tractor running with sunflower oil he has cultivated . It almost seems like a dreamer, but is actually considered one of the top four winemakers in the region. It is not difficult to guess how it does its own vineyards: since 2013, the rows are not plowed, but only tanned, bruised and crushed, while the grass is cut only when strictly necessary.
The screws grow freely, without any support, so that they can enjoy maximum lighting on both sides. Even in cellar practices, the same philosophy is followed: only the perfectly ripe and grape grapes are vinified without the addition of sulfur dioxide; Most of the operations are performed manually and no wine is clarified or filtered.
