Description
What kind of wine it is
Fattoria del Cerro Nobile di Montepulciano Riserva is a Tuscan red wine of great character, crafted from a refined blend of Sangiovese Grosso, Canaiolo Nero and Mammolo. It presents an intense and deep ruby red colour. The bouquet is broad and complex, with enveloping notes of black cherry, blackberry and ripe plum, enriched by hints of violet, tobacco and fine spices. On the palate, it delivers a full and persistent flavour, supported by a pronounced yet velvety tannic structure. Its lively freshness pairs harmoniously with dishes such as grilled lamb or mature cheeses, leading the tasting towards a long and seductive finish.
Where it comes from
This wine originates from the hills of Acquaviva di Montepulciano, in the heart of Tuscany. Fattoria del Cerro enhances its vast vineyard estate through meticulous analysis of the soil characteristics. During the harvest, the grape bunches undergo rigorous selection and are harvested separately by plot and variety, favouring parcels with the best sun exposure. This approach allows the most suitable vineyards to be highlighted, transferring the authenticity and agronomic richness of the land into the glass. The result is a Nobile di Montepulciano with pronounced aromatic breadth and a solid, harmonious structure.
How it is produced
Production begins with fermentation in stainless steel at a controlled temperature, accompanied by daily pump-overs and délestage. After this phase, the must undergoes post-fermentation maceration at higher temperatures, followed by racking. Malolactic fermentation takes place in wood, with weekly bâtonnage on the fine lees for several months. This is followed by a lengthy ageing in French oak barriques and casks, which imparts profound complexity to the wine. Finally, the wine rests in stainless steel tanks to complete maturation and achieve perfect structural balance.
